Memorial services for
Kevin Vincent Teed were held at Berger Center for the
Performing Arts on Saturday January 6th. It was a fitting
venue for the Tucsonan whose overriding passion in life
was for the Performing Arts.
Teeds most recent credits were as producer and director
of "Middle Aged White Guys", a comedy by Jane Martin,
in November of this past year. He was involved with numerous
productions with the once flourishing Tucson company,
the A.K.A. Theater. "Cowboy Mouth" by Sam Shepard, "In
the Boom Boom Room" by David Rabe, "Salome" by Oscar Wilde
are to name but a few. Teed also played Sheriff Jack Silverwood
at Old Tucson Studios.

Best
of all he loved the fall
The leaves yellow on the cottonwoods
Leaves floating on the trout streams
and above the hills
The high blue windless skies
...Now he will be a part of them forever.

Over 300 family, friends and colleagues attended the service.
Many shared anecdotes and stories about Kevin's uncommon
personality. "Kevin was a most generous human being, especially
with the focus that he gave to others. In his life and
his performance, he was unrestrained." said Kitty McKay,
a fellow actor. Teachers from Wright Elementary School
shared about Kevin's' participation in the Screen Actors
Guilds' BookPAL Program; "The kids were totally awed by
Kevin. They loved him very, very much. He was full of
life and that is the best gift he could have given to
my students, the joy of life, and that will never, never
pass. Thank you for Kevin."
Lucky Hayes, President
of the Arizona Branch of the Screen Actors Guild had this
to say: "Kevin was one of the most down to earth, delightful
and supportive men I've ever met. He had a way of connecting
with people that was extraordinary. He had a gift for
bringing books alive for children. Not everybody has this
gift or the will to go into classrooms and do what he
did. He brought something special to their lives."

Four Foundations of Friendship:
Lying, Swearing, Stealing and Drinking.
When you lie, lie for beauty.
When you swear, swear by your friends.
When you steal, steal from the greedy.
When you drink, drink with me.

Phyliss Boyd,
owner of Action Talent Agency in Tucson cherished her
professional relationship with Kevin: "Only the good die
young. Somehow God seems to take them from us early. Everyone
who met him liked him, I mean everyone. He was a chameleon
by nature, knowing exactly what someone needed. He was
a little rebel and a little bit judge. God threw away
the mold after Kevin."
The service was brought to a close with a videotaped performance
of Kevin as the Ringmaster in "Cirque de Shakespeare".
He took his final bow and said "Goodnight." Goodnight,
Kevin. And thank you. You will be missed. |
