Enough History. Today El Castillo is the cutest little
town you could ever meet. Friendly people, great views
of the river, and a climate that seemed like perfection
to me. No cars but cement paths to walk around on and
a huge nature preserve only minutes away by boat. Not
an easy place to get to, but worth every minute of the
journey.

White
water rapids began just before the fortress but
unfortunately no rafts were available. Senor Scott
decided to give it a go with just flippers. I couldn't
be outdone by my co-pilot, so I gave it a try, and
by now you1ve probably guessed, cheated death once
again! With our new friend Roberto, a kayak enthusiast
from Alaska, we hired a guide for a boat tour into
the nature preserve. |
We got to see crocodiles,
bunches of birds, iguanas and multi-colored frogs. Then
our guide took us to his favorite spot with huge vines
hanging down over the river and showed us how to swing
Tarzan-style out over the water. And need I even say,
we cheated death one more time!
